Ambiance: Retro-vibe is everywhere!

Stepping into Filling Station Makati, you’re immediately transported to a time of the past. The vintage decorations, adorned with old-school posters and classic keepsakes, create a warm and welcoming atmosphere that beautifully honors earlier days. From floor to ceiling, every inch of the place is filled with memorabilia that extends the owner’s collection.

The ground level of the establishment is a treat for the eyes, featuring life-sized sculptures of beloved characters and objects that feel like they’ve been plucked right from the past. Real or not, the presence of cars is hard to miss, and there’s an abundance of vintage items like telephone booths and gas station paraphernalia that capture the spirit of days gone by.

It’s on this level where photo opportunities abound, with no dining seats in sight. To enjoy a meal, you’ll need to ascend the stairs to the second floor.

Second Floor

As you reach the second floor, a multitude of dining chairs welcomes you, each representing different eras stretching from the 1920s to the 1970s. The decorations pay tribute to iconic figures like Marilyn Monroe, Charlie Chaplin, and the Beatles.

Parking Hassle

Regrettably, there isn’t a dedicated parking area for this establishment. You’ll need to park your vehicles along the street of Poblacion, which might require a bit of walking if your car is situated far from the Filling Station’s location.

Please be cautious of roaming parking attendants. While they are there to assist you, they could potentially overcharge you. During our visit, we paid 100 pesos just for a quick one-hour stop. It’s uncertain if this is always the norm, but at that time, there seemed to be a lot of parking attendants vying to assist you, leading to a situation where they compete to serve you in order to earn their keep.

It’s quite a wonder how they manage to keep the place so tidy even though it’s open 24 hours, but they’ve definitely succeeded in maintaining its cleanliness despite the non-stop operation.

Because we visited around 3 am for a friendly drinking session, our orders mainly consisted of “pulutan” or finger foods that complemented our tower of drinks. The flavors are good and enjoyable, striking a balance that caters to a wide range of palates. The food is tasty, but not overly so.

However, if you’re looking for a quieter dining setting, this might not be your ideal choice. We swung by at around 3 AM, and even though it was super early, the place was bustling. It just goes to show how Makati’s nightlife never really sleeps.
